About This Engine
This is a used OEM 4.2L supercharged V8 engine (engine code AJ33) pulled from a 2006–2009 Range Rover Sport Supercharged and fully refurbished at our Tampa, FL facility. Every engine is turned over, compression tested, and inspected for signs of internal damage or wear before it leaves our shop.
The 4.2L SC is Land Rover's high-output variant of the AJ-V8 family, featuring a Roots-type Eaton supercharger producing 390 hp / 410 lb-ft of torque. It mates to the ZF 6HP26 6-speed automatic transmission — the same engine architecture found in the Jaguar XJR and XKR of the same era.
Our Refurbishment Process
Every engine we sell goes through a standardized refurbishment process at our facility. This is not a pull-and-ship operation — here's exactly what we do before it ships to you:
- Valve Cover Gaskets Replaced — both valve cover gaskets are replaced to eliminate oil seepage at the top end.
- Timing Cover Gaskets Replaced — front timing cover gaskets are replaced to prevent oil leaks at the front of the engine.
- Front Crankshaft Seal Replaced — a new front crank seal is installed, one of the most common leak points on the AJ33.
- New Spark Plugs Installed — all 8 plugs are replaced with new OEM-spec spark plugs.
- New Water Pump Installed — a new water pump is fitted to give you a fresh cooling system starting point.
- Oil Pan Removed, Inspected & Resealed — the oil pan is dropped, the pickup tube is cleaned and inspected, the interior is checked for metal debris or sludge, and the pan is resealed before reinstallation.
- Compression Tested & Verified — the engine is turned over and all cylinders are compression tested. Results are documented and available upon request.
